Description
Among the most famous pieces of jewelry belonging to Empress Sisi are the diamond stars, which the Imperial and Royal Court and Chamber Jeweler Alexander Köchert designed for the Empress in 1874.
The idea for these pieces of jewelry is said to have originated from Mozart's famous Magic Flute, in which the Queen of the Night wore a dress covered in stars. Sisi was reportedly so taken with the Queen of the Night's starry jewelry that the otherwise frugal Franz Joseph commissioned a considerable number of large and small diamond stars from Köchert, which he presented to his enchanting wife.
