19-year-old Niklas Bauer from Mühlviertel completed a dual apprenticeship as a cook/confectioner at Zauner over the past four years. He worked in various departments both in the main store in Pfarrgasse and in the Grand Café Zauner on the Esplanade. Due to his outstanding performance in the final apprenticeship examination and the associated award, Niklas was honored by Governor Thomas Stelzer in the Linzer Landhaus. Niklas also proved that he is one of the best in his year by participating in the national confectioners' apprenticeship competition; the prerequisite for this was his top placement in the previous Upper Austrian state competition. Apprentice training has a long tradition at the Zauner confectionery; over the last 50 years, more than 130 apprentices have been trained, acquiring a wide range of specialist knowledge and highly qualified vocational training at Zauner, so that they are highly valued not only in Austria but also internationally. Niklas will soon be able to demonstrate his skills in his parents’ business in Pfarrkirchen – we wish him all the best for his future endeavors!
