Traditional companies from the Salzkammergut decide on coffee partnership

Former Imperial and Royal Court confectioner Zauner now sources coffee beans from the heart of the Salzkammergut.

With the fourth generation family-run roastery Nussbaumer (founded in 1935) a regional partner for unique coffee enjoyment was found!

"We are increasingly trying to source all of our products as locally as possible, but always with a commitment to the absolute highest level of quality. The Nussbaumer roastery is a prime example of honest craftsmanship from the Salzkammergut region - it is located on the beautiful Traunsee in Gmunden. It is fun to watch your "own blend" being created and to be able to check the quality immediately," Philipp Zauner.

Since spring 2021, the finest Arabica varieties from Nussbaumer can now be found in the traditional cups of the Zauner confectionery: For this purpose, a specially created “Zauner-house blend“, which is available in a racy espresso and mild standard version in the Zauner online shop can be found.

The coffee is roasted in the center of Gmunden by Marlene Drack, Austria's youngest coffee roaster at 22 years old. She learned her craft from her grandfather Manfred Drack, who has worked in the family business for over 5 decades.

With its almost 190-year history in the heart of the Salzkammergut, Haus Zauner is aware of the importance of honest craftsmanship and regionality.

This means that we are also able to rely on regional partners for other products: Zauner only purchases organic free-range eggs (annual requirement of around 400,000 eggs) from the Mühlviertel for its daily pastry production, the kitchen brigade relies on meat from the organic-certified butcher Burgstaller from Vöcklamarkt and when purchasing all other basic products, we always give preference to products of regional and organic origin!

Selected suppliers from the region:

Biohof Reither
