kuk Hofzuckerbäcker Zauner sets the course for a successful future

The company and family history continues...

The Zauner confectionery was founded in 1832 by Johann Zauner in Bad Ischl and has since become an institution for Austrian coffee house and pastry culture. It has been run as a family business for 188 years now and the top priority has always been to preserve traditions and tried and tested methods while still leading the business into the future in an innovative way.

Josef Zauner, who has played a key role in the company's history since 1966, has created all the conditions necessary to pass the company on to the next generation in a financially successful manner.
His motivation has always been his love for his job and his passion for his craft. In the future, however, he should also have enough time to open himself up to other passions.
In order to ensure that the Zauner success story, which has now spanned six generations, is geared towards the future, Philipp Zauner was appointed managing director in November 2020 and will now continue to write the family history.

Philipp Zauner has all the prerequisites to take over the traditional company in the 7th generation:
He completed his high school diploma at the Kleßheim Tourism School and his apprenticeship in the confectionery trade with world champion patisserie artist Josef Fingerlos in Salzburg, both with distinction. He completed his business studies as "Student of the Year" at the business faculties of the University of Innsbruck in the shortest possible time. Philipp Zauner has also been an ambassador for Austrian pastry culture for some time and is involved in cultural and tourist matters as a member of the supervisory board of the Bad Ischl Tourism Association.

Philipp Zauner:
"I don't see joining my parents' company as an obligation, but rather I'm proud to be able to play a part in shaping the history of this traditional company! My father, who has now successfully managed the company for 54 years, introduced me to the company at an early stage and integrated me, so that he is now able to gradually withdraw from the operational business. It is a matter close to my heart to follow in the footsteps of my predecessors carefully and respectfully, but it is the job of a manager to look forward, not backwards!
Not chasing every trend, preserving the tradition of our company, but not closing ourselves off to strategies and visions for the future, seems to be an important key to success.
My father Josef Zauner has achieved a lot in the Zauner company in almost 6 decades and has shaped this institution into the model company that it is today!
At this point I would like to express my deepest gratitude for being able to take over a family business in such good condition! This life's work must be handled with humility, care and consideration."

Josef Zauner:

“The symbiosis between ‘young’ and ‘old’ has worked more than well in recent months and has even enriched everyday working life!
I have always seen myself as a professional with a real love for my job; I am all the more pleased that this passion has been passed on to my son, who has chosen this path and is taking over our family business."

Despite all the restrictions and uncertainties that this year has brought with it, the Zauner family is looking forward to 2021 - a year full of ideas, projects and drive!
