Philipp Zauner completed his apprenticeship in the confectionery trade with patisserie world champion Josef Fingerlos in Salzburg. He then completed his degree in business administration at the University of Innsbruck's business faculties in minimum study time as student of the year. In the fall of 2020, he took over the management of the company, succeeding his father Josef Zauner in the 7th generation of the family.

Josef Zauner, born in Tamsweg, completed an apprenticeship as a baker and confectioner and passed his master's examinations in Braunschweig and Linz. Numerous gold medals, international visits abroad and television appearances on ORF and Bavarian radio are testament to the creativity of the master confectioner. Under his leadership, Konditorei Zauner was awarded the Austrian national coat of arms in 1980.

After the death of Viktor Zauner's wife, Rosina Öfner was a great support for the business and looked after the service and sales staff. As Anna and Viktor Zauner's marriage had remained childless and there was no successor for the Zauner confectionery, Viktor adopted his long-time employee. She later married the confectioner Richard Kurth. Rosina died in 1957 as the result of a tragic car accident.

Richard Kurth, born in 1908 in Rheinfelden, Baden, passed his master's examination at the confectionery school in Wolfenbüttel in 1935. He practiced his trade all over the world, including in Guatemala City. After the outbreak of the Second World War, he came to Ischl and married Rosina Zauner in 1947. He led the confectionery to further international success. After Rosina's death, he took over the management and married the teacher Hildegard Reitinger in 1962, who supported him in the business.

Hildegard Zauner, born in Strodenitz near Budweis, trained as a teacher in Stuttgart. From 1952, she regularly visited Ischl, where she met Richard Kurth and married him in 1962. After the death of her husband, with whom she had no children, she changed her name to Zauner and continued the business with the support of Josef Ferner, whom she adopted in 1987. Hildegard Zauner worked in the confectionery until she was very old.

After the death of her husband Karl, Maria Anna Zauner took over the Zauner confectionery as sole proprietor. She later emigrated to America overnight with engineer Hans Melzer and her youngest son, leaving her nine other children behind. She returned from America in 1905 and finally officially handed over the business to her son Viktor, who was already running it.
