Court supplir Zauner sets course for the future

The Konditorei Zauner was founded in 1832 by Johann Zauner in Bad Ischl and is now an institution for Österr. Coffee house and flour food culture. It has been run as a family business for 188 years now and it has always been the top priority to preserve traditions and tried and tested traditions and yet to lead the company innovatively into the future.

Josef Zauner, who has been a major influence on the company’s history since 1966, has created all the prerequisites for successfully passing the company on to the next generation.
His motivation was probably always the love of the profession, the desire for craftsmanship. In the future, however, he should also have enough time to open up to other passions.
In order to focus the success story of Haus Zauner, which has now lasted more than 6 generations, towards the future, Philipp Zauner was appointed as Managing Director in November 2020, who will now continue to write the family history a little further.

Philipp Zauner brings with him all the prerequisites to succeed him in the traditional company in 7. generation:
Matura at the Kleßheim Tourism School and teaching the confectionery trade with Patisserie World Champion Josef Fingerlos in Salzburg each completed with distinction. The degree of business administration as “Student of the Year” at the economic faculties of the University of Innsbruck completed in minimum study time. Furthermore, Philipp Zauner has been showing commitment as ambassador of the Austrian flour meal culture for some time and works as a supervisory board member of the Bad Ischl Tourist Board in cultural and tourist matters.

Philipp Zauner:

“I do not consider the entry into the parental business as an imposed obligation, but I am proud to be able to help shape the history of this traditional company a little bit! My father, who has been successfully managing the company for 54 years, introduced me to the company at an early stage and integrated me, so that he is now able to take himself out of the operational business. It is a matter of the heart for me to follow in the footsteps of my predecessors with care and respect, but it is the job of a leader to look forward, not backwards!
Not following every trend to preserve the tradition of our house, but not closing in on strategies and visions for the future, seems to be an important key to success.
In almost 6 decades, my father Josef Zauner has moved a lot in the house of Zauner and shaped this institution into this flagship company that it is today!
At this point I must express my deepest thanks for taking over a family business in this good condition! This life’s work must be handled with humility, care and care.”

Josef Zauner:

“The symbiosis between “young” and “old” has worked more than well in recent months, even enriching everyday work!
I have always seen myself as a professional with a convincing love of the profession; I am all the more pleased that this passion has also passed to my son, who has taken this path and is taking over in our family business.”

Despite all the restrictions and uncertainties that this year brought, the Zauner family is looking forward to 2021 – a year full of ideas, projects and drive!
