Toine de Vries, assistant restaurant manager at Grand Café Zauner Esplanade, took advantage of the recent lockdown in Austria’s hospitality industry to further his professional education.
Without further ado, he completed an intensive training course to become a qualified beer sommelier at the Kiesbye Academy in Obertrum, Salzburg; he passed the associated examination with distinction.
Since then, Toine de Vries has been finding the right beers at Grand Café Esplanade: “You wouldn’t believe how well certain special beers go with sweet creations – like Florentiner or Zaunerstollen. In autumn, the Maronibier from Kaltenhausen in combination with our Maroniroulade is a real hit!”
Managing director Philipp Zauner is also pleased about the very welcome program expansion in the traditional Zauner company: “The goal of our house is always to offer guests experiences that are unique. To be able to surprise regular as well as day guests with wow experiences is what the hospitality industry is all about to a certain extent! So I am extremely pleased that we are currently succeeding in this with combinations of sweet treats and handpicked beer specialties.”
To present a wide range of Austrian and international beer specialties, the Zauner family and Toine de Vries, who enlists the brewmaster of the traditional Zipf brewery, invite you to a beer tasting at the Grand Café Zauner Esplanade on 21.10.2021 from 19:00. A six-course menu is offered, which is perfectly matched to a selection of hand-picked beers. Price p.p. EUR 59,- incl. Food and drink.
